a prototype 1

This is a prototype number one for the auto record cover. This is for a double A side record that I have cut as a dubplate. The two tracks have been analysed using the system previously shown, and the ID3 tags read to output the meta. Then I stuck the two images together in photoshop. It would be nice if I didn’t have to do that. I need to consider what this generator is for: single trax, title trax of an EP, all trax on an EP, albums, etc. When I started this project I was thinking of the 12″ dance records I buy [which actually mostly don't have printed sleaves] These records are normally one trak per side. I was also thinking about dubplates which almost always have only 1 trak per side. Anyhow…

My next movements are that I need to get colour working more for the project. On this version the colour is modulated by the amplification in the part of the spectrum, but the base colours are pure blue and red. I want to find two base colours in some way from the trak as it will make the images more distincly individual. I also have been thinking of using opacity to give the image more depth.

So I really am not using this blog much. Ah well, this project it simple an quick to update here so this is the current stage:

I have got an intruiging draft render of a generative cover created from audio analysis.

Tomorrow I add the meta titling and make it proper, then try out a few different tracks to see if it changes much.

Generative record cover

Had this idea the other day, gonna work on it a bit. Here is the very start; built in processing, reading mp3 tags and visualising the spectrum. Doesn’t really work much because the colour is arbetry [atm] and the image gets muddy after the track runs too long. But it is a basis of concept. Will write more about why soon.
