So the official time for the database brief finished on Friday. I showed this website:
http://gianticebox.co.uk/csm1/
It is not a finished site. Some parts will be removed [map] and the other parts consolidated into a single page. The project will then continue until…
Finishing up my DVD production master disc for it’s premier in New Zealand tonight! Rendering sucks. Hold tight non-existant readers for my next brief about the Lethaby building at CSM. [I'll fix the CSS so this site is readable soon too]

Had a really useful interim crit on Friday which is ages ago but feels like only yesterday. The interim helped me finalize that capture idea and develop an output concept. The capture is summerized as this:
The data captured by the system is that of handwritten communication in public environments. It is the words found outside of the system of mass produced communication. These notes are inplicitly one of a kind and transient, so the project is about archiving these as part of a urge to digitize the world
The output is a bit vague currently but will be in the form of an automatically generated piece of print work collating all the infomation.

Currently doing a rad brief with Rebecca about databases. Concentrating on creating a database that has a relation to London and it’s urban environment. Have had a few ideas and currently trying to create some kind of system that uses found language and outputs a piece of print design.
So far have made [with Sion's help] an iphone app that connects to a mySql database and creates records that hold a text string and latitude and longitude:

Currently having to decide on the exact criteria to apply to the data capture. I am leaning towards recording all hand rendered type. Partially as a continuation of a theme of digitizing all information and also as that data being a flip side to the eventual print product of this project. These are some photos taken to explore what text to imput:

[There is a side idea from much the same project of creating a system to leave digital notes all over the city, some for particular people and some for anyone. But I'll leave that for the moment...]

It is a blog that I will possibly use to post work in process, for the sake of sharing with my peers and also for my own self reflection.
